Mahabalipuram (Mahabs, Mama or Mamapuram for the locals) is a tourist hotspot… with good reason! It is a wonderful fishing village by the sea, where you can actually swim! But do prefer one piece swimming suits if possible, and sunbathing is not recommended, it is not dangerous to do so, but uncomfortable for the sunbather… Unless you like being stared at.
