Ninh Binh

What to do in Ninh Binh

The city in itself is not very interesting. We really stopped there to have a look at the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre in Cuc Phuong National Park. What we didn’t know is that there is no bus to the park from Ninh Binh, that the drive is about 2h on motorbike and that it’s actually easier to go there from Hanoi ! So far, Ninh Binh has been a complete disaster…

Driving around “Halong Bay on Land”

The drive to the Cuc Phuong National park is two hours long so we had quite a lot of time to take in the sights. It was absolutely beautiful and I really recommend it! They call the area “Halong Bay on Land” for a good reason. You can even rent a kayak or a coconut boat to see the scenery. We were quite happy just driving around and you do not need to drive all the way to the park.

Cuc Phuong National Park

Turns out there are two rescue centres next to each other at the entrance of the park ! The Endangered Primate Rescue Center and the Turtle Conservation CenterClick here for my other article with more information on the park and the rescue centers.

The entrance of the park is 60 000D, and another 20 000D to visit the rescue centres. Unless you really like monkeys and/or turtles, I would not say this is a must do, but it was still quite fun and we do love turtles and monkeys 🙂

The Turtle Conservation Center

We had fun in this little rescue centre. We fed some tortoises and learned all sorts of facts on turtles and tortoises !

The Endangered Primate Rescue Center

The tour was a bit rushed and you don’t get to touch the animals or feed them or get close. You do get to see the enclosures where the primates and the babies are closely monitored and you also see the bigger forest enclosures in which they are placed before being released into the wild.
